The way we tend to our business has completely changed over this last decade. Nowadays, all you need is a smartphone, some creativity, the right attitude, and boom! You’ve got yourself an opportunity for brand awareness, brand growth and the reason we’re all here – money.

Having some sort of social presence is your golden ticket to building your empire, so focusing just on Instagram (the platform we’re always scrolling through), we’ll give you a few great ways you can increase your conversion rate on there.

A few ways you can increase your conversion rate on Instagram

Influencer marketing

Partnering up with influencers is one of the best ways to increase your conversion rate, especially if you’ve picked an influencer that promotes their content to your target audience.

Let’s say you ran a little online boutique store that sold items like candles, jewellery, and hair accessories. You have some awesome stuff that just isn’t being seen by many people and it’s a bit disheartening. What if you got in contact with a lifestyle influencer who had a decent following to see if they’d like to receive some of your items? We’re not saying you have to collaborate with influencers who have millions of followers. You could easily find someone with eight, nine, ten thousand followers. If anything, we’d say that’s the sweet spot. A lot of the time, influencers that receive your items and love them, will take some snaps, and post them on their page. They’ll tag your business which will lead a whole new audience to your page. Winning!

Run social media giveaways

How many times have you had a friend tag you in a giveaway on Instagram in a bid to win a competition that they’ve seen running? Maybe it’s been a competition to win a voucher to your favourite clothing store. Maybe it’s even been something as simple as a smoothie from a café nearby. Think back to the comments that you saw. The comment section was most likely flooded with other people just like you, tagging their friends in, hoping to win the prize that was being promoted.

Firstly, what a great way to increase brand awareness and secondly, allow your target audience to see how popular your product is, in turn wanting it even more. Giveaways and contests like these create a sort of ‘wow’ factor that your audience will associate with your brand in the long run. It’ll put your business on the map and have people searching for you. Again, winning!

Create content for your target audience

You don’t want to be creating content for the wrong audience. The success of your social media strategy really depends on targeting the right audience and marketing in a way that appeals to them. Why would you want to work hard on creating awesome content for an audience that won’t buy what you’re trying to sell?

One way you can create a great strategy is by implementing the use of a social media marketing tool. It’s an easy way to quickly get an overview of your audience and see things like what time your audience is online most and what content they engage with the most. Here at Picos, we use a program called Falcon to keep track of insights like these. We also use it to schedule said content, so if you’re looking for a way to save time at the same time, we recommend you give this one a go!

Just to be totally transparent, Falcon is a little costly, especially if you’re only starting out. It could be in your best interest to look at a few other options like Later, Skedsocial or Hootsuite. Do some research into this and you’ll find what suits you best!

Showcase your user-generated content as social proof

Let’s be real. When customers tag you in their images once they’ve received your product/s, or left reviews, you’ve truly hit the jackpot. They are the perfect example of content that is authentic and making them a vital part of your marketing strategy is an easy, cost-effective way to boost your social conversions.

Think back to a time when you really wanted to purchase that warm winter jacket, or those earrings that had caught your eyes. You probably went back and forth deciding whether they were a sensible purchase to make, and then you most likely went to their Instagram page to look at the rest of their images. This would then help you with your final decision. Marketing user-generated content is a perfect way to showcase customers who are satisfied with their purchases, leading others to follow in their footsteps. It shows your audience what your product would look like in real life and creates trust. Don’t underestimate this one.

Remember that sometimes quality is better than quantity. A loyal following that regularly looks out for your business, is better than a following just based on the numbers. So, it’s important that you have a social conversion strategy to generate those loyal customers. If you’re still struggling to achieve this, feel free to chat to our team. This is what we do for a living, so we’ll know just how to help you. And just to let you know in advance, any food briberies will be accepted, no questions asked.
